How an Airbrush Tan is Achieved
At Indulgences by Body Bronze our highly trained artists will apply a DHA based airbrush spray onto your skin. When DHA is applied to the skin, it reacts with the amino acids to produce a tan, much like the sun does, but without any damage to the skin. DHA is a sugar-based compound derived from sugarcane and has been approved by the FDA for sunless tanning applications since the 1970's.
Our process is very unique because we offer a "customized color" that is suited to your skin color/type. We are the only salon in all of Arkansas to offer this treatment! Our process does not involve spraying everyone the same color; our artist will actually mix the color after she views your skin and has discussed your desired results. You will walk out of our salon absolutely glowing and feeling transformed! No-one will know that you are airbrushed because we have perfected our applications to the hands and feet!
How to Prepare for Your
Custom Airbrush Session!
* Avoid oil or products with oil or petrolatum in them for at least two days prior to your session! Read your bottles so you can be informed of what you are placing on your skin, very important!
* Exfoliate your skin with a loofah or mitt (no exfoliating creams or oils) one day prior to your session! Remember to exfoliate around your feet, ankles and around your underarms, neck and décolleté.
* Pedicures and manicures should not be performed the day of your treatment unless they are performed by our trained manicurists as only they know what not to put on your skin.
* Avoid bar soaps, and Dove soaps! Use a gentle, liquid bath soap that does not contain oil or petrolatum (yes, even soaps contain these ingredients now days).
* Shower the morning of your spray and shave all necessary areas. Do not apply ANY lotions or deodorant after your shower.
* Come in for your session, with clean and very dry skin. Do not wear any makeup for your session and be prepared to pull your hair back from you face and up off of your back.
* Wear dark, loose fitting clothing (preferably jersey material) and thong flip-flops. If you do not plan to wear a bra during your session, then you will not be wearing one out.
* If your car has leather seats, then please bring a towel to place over your seat so your legs do not sweat and wear away your airbrush tan (during hot weather).
What to Expect the Day of
Your Airbrush:
* The session will take approximately 10-15 minutes.
* When your session is complete, you will feel tacky, but this is completely normal. It just means you must be very careful with your skin for the next few hours.
* Do not place your purse on your arm or shoulder; carry it out in your hands.
* Do not touch or rub your skin, as this could remove your tan.
* Avoid water, such as baby slobber, dog licks, or a sweaty can of soda. ;)
* Salt water removes your tan, so try to avoid sweating at all costs the day of the spray!
* Your tan will continue to darken over time; however, the cosmetic bronzer does darken at a faster rate than your actual tan. Do not be alarmed if you feel you are becoming too dark as the color beneath is typically lighter than what you are seeing several hours after your spray!
How to Care for Your Custom Airbrush Tan:
* During your first shower, you will see excessive amounts of color running down your drain. No fear, this is the cosmetic bronzer we used which allowed us to see the color going onto your skin. This bronzer helped us create a streak-free, flawless look for you!
* Your face naturally exfoliates at a much faster rate than your body, so be prepared for your face to lose its color approximately two days after your spray. Don't worry we have a custom bronzer that alleviates this problem!
* Use only our products which were created specifically for this process or you will fade faster and look blotchy.
* Avoid long hot baths, swimming pools, hot tubs and salt water.
* After your shower, simply pat dry instead of rubbing your skin with the towel.
* Apply lotion liberally and at least twice daily. Remember, you have just applied a dye to your skin which is a drying agent!
* Your lotion should not contain oil or petrolatum (these products actually remove the color) as the first five or six ingredients. Once again, we highly recommend our lotion as it was developed specifically for airbrushed clients.
* For a flawless look, try to come in once a week for an airbrush session! This will keep your tan looking fresh!
